Day 42 – Frogs

Mom says not to cry for frogs
but who told the frogs
to try for me?
Why can a frog,
in its slimy judgment
wreck my peace of heart,
ruin my hope for something
I never believed in anyway,
and hop along to the next?

I have heard that some people
pick their legs off
only kiss them while they’re
sucking off the meat
and sometimes get
a dead prince.

But mom, she knows
I wouldn’t like the taste.
