Day 58 – Sleep

Sleep, those little settled pools of respite-
how I love them.
And do I love them more for the coming up
or for the going under,
a tide that washes the dust away,
that hushes the sound of all things?
For I do not linger in the asylum of dreams,
I’ve no will to fight further into death, it seems,
and its content is to leave me alone, at least,
until the rising of the sun.
