Day 84 – What Gifts We Can Bear

A box of good things,
heavy thrust upon a back,
a flattening weight from outstretched arms
smiling in anticipation-

a box of plastic abs and chocolate coins
or
a box of trusting secrets and a hand up

-dangerous undeserved goodwill,
careful what you give. But more,
we know to take only what gifts
we can bear.

    • Hello 🙂
Yes, I occasionally post commentary regarding the journey or whatever’s on my mind at the time. I edit my poems as I write them but never spend more than a day to get them to where they’re ok to post. Once a poem is posted I never revisit it- it’s out of my hands at that point.
      Thanks for your interest 🙂

      • Maybe that’s where you can go when the project is over? Leaving a poem ‘to ferment’ without looking at it could mean you have a completely fresh insight….
I see a collection developing out of it all 🙂
