Day 268 – Where The Conversation Ends

The conversation ends
when we have simply had enough
of debating and poring over the fact
that we’ve got a problem to solve.

The conversation ends
because we’ve got our own lives
to get back to
and we will not risk discomfort
within the circles of our worlds.

The conversation ends
because the truth is tiresome work,
requiring more commitment
than we’re willing to expend.

But where the conversation ends
our complacency takes root,
putting to the side those difficult things
we’d rather just avoid.

Where the conversation ends,
our folly begins,
and our world a silent hell
for the children.

  1. true. the conversation ends because it becomes too much work for two people to communicate when they are seeing the world in two very different ways.
