Day 304 – Enough

Sitting on a goldmine,
rich with sensations
and possibilities,
undeserving of even air
and using it to lament-

who am I to say
that birth wasn’t enough?

Flipping through the records
of previous loves
broken by my own hand,
the bliss that was allowed
to exist, but couldn’t last-

who am I to ask for more?

I who cannot heal
one sparrow’s wing,
cannot give growth
to one small flower
without the same grace
which saw fit to make me-

questioning, doubting, disputing-

who am I that life
is not enough?
