Year 2: Day 29 – Maternity Spirit

If you’d come with guns blazing,
fires roaring, engines firing,
to show me how you’re better off

If you’d rolled in on cashmere,
even fake cashmere,
I would’ve let myself believe it
and been done

You did some bad things,
after all, when you were here,
and I set myself for heaven
as reward

But you’re coming with nothing,
no shields and no flair
and it’s not fair
to do me like that

Because I feel
the wings sprouting already

Don’t forget to check out my first anthology, Candy Pizza: Poetry that’s Fun and Healthy, available on Amazon & Kindle.
