Year 2: Day 47 – He Wants Somebody To Write His Story

He wants somebody to write his story,
you can see it in his eyes
but he won’t read,
no, he won’t bother much with that.

He lets me type what I think he says,
what he definitely doesn’t say,
but I think he knows,
oh, he knows all about my ways.

Don’t we just want to be someone
even if we never are?
Even if we never
write a single page of our own…

He wants somebody to write his story,
and today it’s gonna be me,
but he must know that
I can’t put it down his way.

  1. On many dimensions this work is impacting. It is a wonderful contrast of how our physical world as well as our spiritual world reflect each other. It is intriguing how literary life can mirror our metaphysical understanding that as a writer searches for that original thought which they know and feel is there, right on the bridge of great anticipation and blossoms in verse and becomes a defining value in our own identity. That it is in search itself, the active part of what we do in that search, which tests and tries who we are outside “his story.” It is difficult to locate identity but that when the volume in the heart compels a writer to compose, the words we chose, or submit to use because of some internal current that actually relates a feeling of freedom, must be from the depth of self or risk commercialism.
