Year 2: Day 74 – In A Brand New Journal

In a brand new journal
I can write anything,
all the world to be captured in pen-
the sacred purge of thought,
the immaterial made physical,
ideas in the void given form.

In a brand new journal
there’s a sense of possibility,
of the greatness about to be born-
a tome, when completed,
to be placed on the shelf
and cherished in years to come.

Ha.

In a brand new journal
I find a death wish,
a mountain I cannot climb-
for I can’t write a thing
in a brand new journal.

  1. I have so many journals with only a few pages filled. I get embarrassed by the lengthening gaps so just buy a new one. Because the next time will be different….

  2. Do you ever go back and read your journals? I threw away (shredded) some of my older journals two years ago because I wasn’t ever going back to them. and I can I felt, as a person I was not evolving. so ripping them up, perhaps was a good process for me πŸ™‚

    • I read them very rarely, usually just for when I’m trying to remember something specific. But I completely understand the idea behind getting rid of them, wanting to be rid of the reminders of who we used to be. Conversely, looking backwards can also make us appreciate how far we’ve come and spur us onward. Just a thought πŸ˜‰
