Year 2: Day 109 – One Of Us

Do I think sometimes
that of the crowd around
of well-meaning, well-striving,
well-talented kids
that even one of them
will touch the sun?

No, I’m not inclined to believe
that any of us
has that much power.

But our kind has existed for decades,
we’ve been at this for so so long,
and the ones we admire
were born like us,
they were born,
were born
somehow.

So it makes sense to hope
and it’s worth the effort to try
because it’s already happened.

And if one of us could ever touch the sun,
one of us who’ll prove worthy
to’ve been so lonely
could it not
perhaps
be me?
